諸人麻疹退治之図（しょにんはしかたいじのず） / Shonin hashika taiji no zu

文久2（1862）年、麻疹が全国的に流行した時に世間に出回った「麻疹絵」のひとつ。麻疹のせいで売上が減った芸者や風呂屋が麻疹の化け物を叩きのめすが、かえって商売が繁盛したとされる駕籠屋と医者は、それをとめようとしている。

Around 1862, there was a pandemic of measles in Japan and many “Hashika-e” (measles pictures) were created, and this is one of them. Geisha and a bathhouse owner are beating the monster of measles, since they could not make enough money during the epidemic. However, kagoya* and doctors are trying to stop the defenders because it is said that doctors and kagoya had more business chances due to the epidemic.
*kagoya : physical labor to do with human transportation
